Founder and Teacher

Woo Myung

Woo Myung is an educator who for nearly 30 years has tried to inform the public about the recovery of human nature, the principles of the world and enlightenment of the mind. In 1996, he created and started teaching a meditation method to eliminate (the false) minds which enables anyone to empty one's mind in everyday life. Woo Myung, who is an author as well as a calligrapher, wrote 10 books and about 40,000 calligraphic works which convey the prinicples of the universe and Truth.
“A constant riddle in my mind was the fact that we had to die after living this way – as well as where we come from, why we live and where we go after we die. I also pondered why we all come into the world but only some people become saints, while others such as myself are just ordinary people.”
– From Woo Myung's book; Stop Living In This World, Go To The Everlasting World Of Happiness, Live There Forever
Unlike other meditative practices rooted in specific spiritual traditions, this form of meditation is relatively new. It began in 1996 when an ordinary man named Woo Myung achieved full enlightenment.

Woo was born and raised in the small town of Euisung, South Korea, during the Korean Civil War, and he lost his father at the age of nine. His father’s sudden passing ignited a deep curiosity in him to seek the fundamental Truth of life. As an adult, Myung ran a tutoring school and lived a steady life, yet he continued searching for enlightenment in his spare time.
“Before, I had always wondered where humans came from, why we live, and whether humans could live forever.”
– From Woo Myung's book; The Living Eternal World

Translation: "The universe exists within human when human becomes the universe mind."
In late 1995 and early 1996, during meditation, Myung experienced a profound insight: instead of striving for enlightenment, he realized he needed to discard his mind and even his very self. Through this organic understanding, he completely let go of his mind’s world, ultimately experiencing a resurrection and rebirth of Truth within himself. In simpler terms, he reached enlightenment, realizing that the Universe was his mind and that he had become Truth.
Through his enlightenment, Woo came to understand the principles of the world, gaining answers to all his questions about life and death. Realizing that people can only truly live by fully discarding their minds, he committed himself to teaching others how to attain Truth.
“In order to teach people, there needed to be a method.”
– From Woo Myung's book; The Living Eternal World
What began as a single meditation class with ten students in Mungyeong, South Korea, in November 1996, soon developed into a comprehensive program. Over the past two decades, Teacher Woo has worked tirelessly to refine this practice, developing various techniques that later became the seven levels of meditation and the completion course. His goal was to create a method that would enable others to reach a state of completion. While students achieved various levels of enlightenment in the earlier years, they could not reach full completion—resurrection and rebirth—until 2012.

Since 2012, through the practice of the completion-level course, in 2016 Woo developed a way to cleanse generational mind traits, guiding people to deeper enlightenment. This final approach enabled not only the realization of one’s true self as the Universe but also the understanding of and living in the Land of Truth — the creation of Truth in the Universe that exists within one's self that is here and now.

To this day, he continues to study, write, answer people’s questions in speeches, and lead educational meditation courses.

He once said, “It is not my purpose to make disciples. I am here to make masters.” By this, he meant that anyone could become Truth by following the meditation method and his teachings. The results of the practice have demonstrated the universality and accuracy of this method, showing that those who attain Truth can become masters capable of guiding others toward it.
Woo’s teaching style is precise and thorough. In each step of the meditation practice, students experience enlightenment, and his teachings and methods instill confidence in their progress and a clear understanding of the journey’s ultimate destination.

Woo’s sole purpose is to help people escape their mind’s world and become one, so they may live in the true world with eternal liberation and peace. He developed a complete method that enables people to discard their false bodies and minds and be reborn as their original, true selves.

Meditation centers dedicated to finding one’s true self continue to grow worldwide. While Woo provides standard guidelines and occasional guidance, these centers operate independently. His teachings have spread organically through dedicated practitioners around the globe who, motivated by their own positive and transformative experiences, share his message of hope.

As the number of meditation students grows, many have expressed gratitude to Teacher Woo Myung, the founder of this method. However, Woo finds true meaning only when people attain true enlightenment, are freed from their suffering and pass their gratitude forward in helping others to do the same. This is why he continues to travel to new and unfamiliar places around the world to help others. At his core, he is a person of Truth who wishes for everyone to become Truth as well.
“The age when Truth was just spoken of has come to an end; it is now the age when people can become complete. Let us discard and subtract our false selves and welcome the arrival of this age with joy.”
– From Woo Myung's book; Stop Living in this Land. Go to the Everlasting World of Happiness. Live There Forever
